9K a year This position is to support the Tissue Distribution Program (TDP) in the Unit of Collaborative Research in the Division of Veterinary Medicine at the Tulane National Primate Research Center.
The primary focus of this position will be to coordinate tissue collections and retrieval from the Necropsy Core, Veterinary Medicine Core, and tissue archives for the distribution to intramural and extramural scientists upon request, and maintaining and coordinating the sample requests that come through the National NHP Biomaterials Query System (BQS).
This position will be responsible for communicating, collating, and recording the requests; packaging and shipping samples as needed; and generating 1- and 5- year reports of tissue distributions.
Additional responsibilities will include maintaining computer records, assisting with optimization of TDP SOPs, ordering and billing.

Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple assignments.
Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office word and Excel software applications.
Self-motivated and ability to work independently The TNPRC maintains biosafety level 3 facilities and performs work on diverse infectious agents many of which can cause serious disease in humans if standard operating procedures, including use of appropriate personal protective equipment, are not followed.
Depending on agent specific risk assessments individuals may be offered, or in some cases required to have vaccinations against the relevant agents.
If this position is assigned to work in ABSL3 containment areas there will be additional minimum requirements including some or all of the following:
Must pass a US Department of Justice Security Risk Assessment for access to select biological agents and toxins.
Ability to perform job duties while wearing respiratory protection.
Must participate in drug and alcohol program and be in compliance with TNPRC drug and alcohol policy Required Education and/or Experience High School or Medical Laboratory Certification Specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents are required.
Preferred Qualifications o Bachelor's Degree.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
